Proceed to Moab.

It is (as expected) hot hot hot.

We go to Moab Brewery--a sweet spot with some good beer.

We attempt to play Moab disc golf course.

There is sage and sand everywhere.

The mountains are in the distance. It is beautiful; but it's 110 degrees and we call it quits after only 5 holes.

We drive through the nearby canyon and locate three petroglyph sites.

It's different than the canyons I'm used to--rather than forest all around, there are towering red rocks and (surprisingly) a creek; Kane Creek.

The petroglyphs are remnants of the Ute culture and date back to the 1200's.

Looking for some free camping, we head North-West.

Out in the country, only a few miles off of the highway, we stumble on Crystal Geyser.

Located on the Green River, Crystal Geyser was amazing.

It was erupting when we arrived. I was too enthralled to get a picture.

No one else showed up, and we had the desert to ourselves.

Except for one ornery duck that kept trying to scare us away.

He too appreciated the solitude of the geyser.

We cooked over a fire, bathed in the river, and slept under the stars;

it was warm enough that we didn't require a rain fly.

There was a full moon that night and the light bounced off the gloriously smooth rocks and the rolling river.

In the morning, we packed up with the company of a scorpion.

This was our favorite camping spot.

It was isolated. Pristine, quiet, archaeologically stunning.

Friday. Idaho is our target. We get distracted driving through Utah.

We stop at the Park City disc golf course.

We stop at the Sri Radha Kirshna Hindu Temple.

There are peacocks, llamas, and more outside. The temple is intricately carved.

Inside, there is randomly a small Indian restaurant.

There is a class of some sort taking place in the holy room.

There is an Indian gift shop.

North to Provo.

Beacon Hill Disc Golf Course is our first stop.

Strap Tank Brewing (newly opened) proved to be a sick little gem.

And as a fan of Wasatch Apricot Hefeweizen, I made sure we stopped at Utah Brewers Incorporated--which makes Wasatch and Squatters beers.

We are forced to drive through Salt Lake City...it takes forever and a half.

We end up making it to Idaho! Barely. We camp near the border.

We're out of the desert; there is free camping by a creek in the forest.

It is a Friday, so we get there early so it doesn't fill up before we get a chance to snag a good spot.

The creek is cold and it feels good to be back in the forest.

On our way North again, we're officially on our way back home.
